Meet Phila

Meet Phila,Phila was a founding member of the Isiqalo Foundation in 2009 and today runs the Siyatshintsha sports programme for boys and girls in Masiphumelele Township.Phila is a true community leader and has been a key member of the Masiphumelele netball team for some years. She was recently invited to trails for Springbok colours and brings with her a wealth of coaching talent and competitive edge.Alongside Thomas, Phila is responsible for managing a team of community coaches who use sports to address wider community issues in Masi. At the moment she is leading a gender awareness and violence prevention soccer programme which is incorporating girls into previously male dominated sports - with a primary focus on Soccer. Extra to her coaching, she recently completed a 2 year diploma in Sports Management on a bursary from Isiqalo which has helped her build and expand the Siyatshintsha programme.read more
